Bombay Talkies' Hamari Baat ('43) was a Hindi musical block-buster with almost all songs tuned by Anil Biswas were evergreen hits in the voice of Parul Ghosh, Arun Kumar & Suraiya, who had just entered into films thence.
One particular duet : Jeewan jamuna paar... needs special mention for its melodic nostalgia that hypnotized MD: Subbiah Naidu, and colorfully-n-melodically improvised a shorter edited Tamil version in the voice of the heroine, K.L.V.Vasantha. The latter, was a Lux beauty contestant winner during 1938-39 or so and had a no.of Tamil films to her credit Quite an average singing voice of those years and a sort of 'keep' with Modern Theatres' T.R.Sunderam.
The melodic orchestration of Hamari Baat ('43) was by Ramsingh who has played some charming saxophone pieces in the duet,, which had sizzling tempo as compared to the Tamil one. S.M.Subbiah Naidu, himself; was a fine orchestrator. The preludes-n-interludes are exquisite to listen to.
From GCloud, both of them are presented for the avid connoisseurs, with an enlightening angle :
